The National Youth Service (NYS) is the pride and backbone of our nation, focused on helping the youth discover and develop their potential since 1964. It is a premier agency through which the Government executes an elaborate and comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. NYS is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan citizens for the position of Structural Engineer as Cadet Officers.
Role Overview
Successful candidates will be appointed as Cadet Officers and will be required to provide professional engineering services within the organization. As a condition of employment, all successful candidates must undergo a mandatory nine (9) month NYS Paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.
Compensation and Terms
Salary and Allowances: As existing in the NYS salary scale.
Medical Cover: Provided under the SHA Scheme of Civil Servants.
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
General Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Be between 18 – 28 years of age.
Have no criminal record.
Be medically fit.
Must undergo NYS Paramilitary training for nine (9) months.
Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Minimum Academic and Professional Qualifications
Be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Water Engineering, or Architecture from a recognized institution.
Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.
