We are looking for a Business Development Manager to own and deliver segment sales strategies and plans, focusing on growth within African markets through broker engagement and corporate account management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Execution: Own and deliver the segment sales strategy and plan, working closely with segment managers and the wider commercial team, with clear timelines and measures.
Pipeline Management: Build and manage a high-quality prospect pipeline across key markets and channels, utilizing a focused broker engagement approach.
Proposition Development: Develop compelling proposals and presentations that clearly explain the Bupa proposition and negotiate fair, sustainable terms.
Relationship Building: Strengthen broker and client relationships, including onboarding priority brokers and supporting training to enable growth.
Performance Tracking: Track performance and market insight, providing regular forecasts and feedback while keeping sales activity records accurate and up to date.
Compliance & Risk: Champion compliant selling and risk awareness, escalating potential issues and meeting regulatory and governance requirements.
Collaboration: Collaborate with pricing, proposition, and marketing teams to inform campaign activity and optimize distribution; complete CRM and reporting to agreed standards.
Culture: Model Bupa’s culture and values, acting with integrity and putting customers at the heart of decisions.
Requirements
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree in a relevant field.
Experience: A sales background in global health insurance or relevant financial services (e.g., life insurance, banking, or wealth).
Market Knowledge: First-hand experience working with Africa markets and broker-led distribution.
Proven Success: A track record of winning new business and meeting targets through practical, consultative selling.
Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial judgement, including pricing and contract know-how, and the ability to read financials and act on them.
Communication: Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build partnerships and negotiate fair outcomes.
Regulatory Awareness: Comfort in a regulated environment, with a commitment to treating customers fairly and following governance requirements.
Leadership: Experience supporting teams through change and growth.
