The Bricklayer Manager at Twyford Tile is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing construction projects, managing advertising materials, coordinating with suppliers, and implementing training programs for tilers (fundis). The role involves ensuring cost efficiency across multi-country operations, standardizing materials, and driving continuous improvement through data-driven strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Management
Audit construction quotations to ensure cost efficiency.
Review and verify onboarded construction suppliers across all operational countries.
Standardize construction materials and technical specifications across different regions.
Conduct market visits to assess showrooms, materials, and quality standards.
Review material costs annually to ensure alignment with prevailing market rates.
Develop and execute comprehensive yearly, quarterly, and monthly construction plans.
Track and report on construction project progress on a weekly and monthly basis.
Analyze the impact of showroom construction on store and company-level sales.
Continuously improve construction strategies through deep market and competitor analysis.
Advertising Management
Audit and review advertising quotations for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
Verify and manage advertising suppliers to maintain quality standards.
Standardize advertising materials based on evolving market needs.
Develop and implement advertising plans across all countries of operation.
Monitor and report on the performance of advertising campaigns.
Supplier & Cost Control
Review and approve procurement costs for materials, gifts, and other operational needs.
Ensure all suppliers comply with performance and quality standards.
Maintain rigorous cost control measures across all regions.
Tiler (Fundi) Programs & Training
Oversee tiler engagement and reward programs (points and redemption systems).
Audit tiler points data to identify and flag any abnormal activities.
Monitor the execution of redeem plans across all countries.
Develop and implement engagement strategies for inactive tilers.
Review and approve budgets for tiler training and paving projects.
Assess and implement technical training programs for tilers and marketing teams.
Track and report on the performance of training and engagement programs.
Planning & Reporting
Assess staffing needs across various countries and support recruitment planning efforts.
Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports covering construction, advertising, and tiler programs.
Develop strategic long-term and short-term plans across all managed functions.
Drive operational improvements using data insights, market trends, and competitor intelligence.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Building & Construction, or Interior Design.
5–10+ years of proven experience in construction or project management.
Strong experience in managing technical teams, specifically fundis (tilers, masons, and finishing teams).
Hands-on experience in procurement, supplier management, and cost control.
Proven ability to manage complex operations across multiple countries.
Deep technical knowledge of tiling, finishes, and construction materials.
Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Swahili is considered an advantage.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and professional reporting tools.
