The Branch Underwriting Analyst is responsible for the execution of effective and efficient operational performance of the branch office in line with the Company’s policies and practices that govern internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment: Assess proposed risks within set standards to accurately determine the level of risk the business is assuming.
Underwriting Processing: Process underwriting transactions such as new business, renewals and invitations, declarations, endorsements, reconciliations, and cancellations in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
Client Advisory: Handle queries on insurance products and provide recommendations on suitable solutions.
Intermediary Liaison: Liaise with intermediaries and direct clients regarding their policies to ensure they receive correct information.
Quotation Preparation: Gather relevant details from clients and agents to enable provision of quotations and prepare them using the GIS system.
Documentation: Ensure proposal forms, Know Your Customer (KYC), and all underwriting documents are completed for all new business; ensure timely debiting and issuance of policy documents.
Financial Management: Manage premium collection, issue receipts, perform daily banking, and follow up on debt collection.
Relationship Management: Maintain good working relationships with intermediaries, clients, and service providers.
Claims Support: Receive claims documentation and follow up for processing and payment.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of policies underwritten and decisions made, ensuring proper filing for easy retrieval.
Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service by responding to enquiries from walk-in clients, telephone, and emails.
Office Administration: Manage petty cash, perform accounts reconciliation, and assist the Branch Manager in branch operations.
Compliance: Adhere to governance requirements including KYC, AML, and Data Protection Acts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Insurance, Finance, Economics, or other business-related discipline.
Progress towards a Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK) with at least 5 papers completed or equivalent.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience in the insurance industry or financial services industry.
