As a Motor Assessor at Apollo Life Assurance - APA Insurance, you will be responsible for evaluating motor vehicle damage, managing claims related to motor insurance, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of repair estimates. You will play a crucial role in managing repair costs, coordinating with garages, and liaising with various internal departments to improve underwriting decisions and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Management
Documentation: Receiving, reviewing, distributing, and giving recommendations on motor-related claims mail.
Repair Estimates: Advising on the motor claims repair estimate and reviewing external assessors' reports.
Negotiation: Supplying parts where possible and coordinating the process or directly negotiating with the repairers.
Fraud Detection: Perusing claim documents to confirm validity while looking out for potentially fraudulent claims; liaising with external assessors to provide pointers to investigators.
Project Management & Operations
Project Plato: Organizing and regularly monitoring Project Plato Teams (3 teams) to ensure the company achieves savings from parts supply and invoice discounting. Maintaining Plato records and attending group meetings.
Field Inspections: Assessing and re-inspecting motor vehicles; meeting brokers and clients in the field over repair complaints and dispute resolutions.
Salvage & Maintenance: Managing salvage duties and making regular visits to garages to check on ongoing repairs.
CSR: Participating in company CSR and brand-building activities in liaison with other departments.
Internal Liaison & Consultation
Underwriting Advice: Advising on vehicle types with high claim frequency or severity, real repair costs, and accident trends.
Risk Mitigation: Cautioning on underwriting vehicles with expensive or hard-to-source parts and ensuring proper vehicle valuation.
Customer Service & Reporting
Enquiry Management: Ensuring that all enquiries by clients and stakeholders are responded to promptly and appropriately.
Reporting: Generating management information regarding claims repair cost reports.
Requirements
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering (or equivalent) OR a Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
Professional: Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance.
Experience
At least 4 years’ relevant experience in the Insurance sector.
Skills and Competencies
In-depth technical knowledge in motor engineering and motor vehicle repairs.
Diverse knowledge in motor vehicle trends and part sourcing.
Strong investigative and analytical skills.
Client relationship management skills.
High level of integrity and a strong team player.
