The Branch Manager coordinates with the Head – Branches in implementing and carrying out bank policy and procedures with respect to overall operations of the branch. The role is responsible for business development within the Rift Valley branch market to meet or exceed business development goals, as well as the development, coaching, and discipline of staff to assure appropriate branch sales and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Strategic Input and Planning
Prepare and implement a branch business plan that encompasses strategies for performance on branch growth objectives.
Understand and provide clear direction to the branch based on market analysis of local area consumer trends and competitor offerings.
Prepare branch budgets for approval and monitor costs and performance against variations.
Formulate and implement strategic initiatives to increase new business and share of wallet from existing clients.
Ensure growth in Net Interest Income (NII) and optimize OPEX to reduce operational costs.
Business Growth & Development
Take full responsibility for all product lines and all sales/business development for the entire branch business.
Drive growth of the Branch’s Business portfolio (Assets and Liabilities) ensuring income and quality targets are achieved.
Develop and implement a branch turnaround strategy to ensure profitability.
Maintain a high-quality lending portfolio in compliance with Credit Policy, CBK guidelines, and the Banking Act.
Ensure compliance with the Environmental Social Management (ESM) policy.
Marketing & Brand Management
Focus on developing competitive advantages in the marketplace to drive value.
Conduct product reviews and development through constant market feedback.
Build the Sidian Bank brand to ensure it is top of mind as an enterprise bank.
Support product specialists and the sales team in marketing initiatives.
Relationship Management & Customer Experience
Create a differentiated customer experience design tailored to target customer needs.
Optimize customer interactions with the brand to consistently deliver and make continuous improvements.
Link sales and service and embed a customer service culture as the bedrock to grow the balance sheet.
Achieve set customer satisfaction scores including CSAT, CES, and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
Branch Operations
Ensure the branch is opened and closed on time as per CBK requirements.
Oversee legislative and Sidian Bank policy requirements, including health, safety, and security procedures.
Ensure adequate cash levels and that staff are trained in KYC/AML guidelines.
Leadership & People Management
Ultimately responsible for Human Resource Management of branch staff.
Set performance objectives and provide regular feedback via appraisal processes.
Mentor and coach the team to enhance motivation, engagement, and improved performance.
Manage succession planning and staff leave programs.
Risk & Compliance
Responsible for overall Risk and Compliance activities in the branch setup.
Ensure implementation and compliance with operational policies and internal controls.
Screen customers inadequately considering AML/CFT/CPF guidelines and escalate suspicious accounts to the MLRO.
Decision Making Authority
Empowered to make managerial decisions and approval on lending discretion as per policy.
Approval of new accounts and costs within set budgets (e.g., petty cash, maintenance).
Discretion on resource allocation and approval of staff leave.
Qualifications and Experience
University degree or above in a relevant business discipline (e.g., Business Administration or Finance).
Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Minimum 8 years’ working experience in a Banking environment.
Sound exposure to Branch Operations, Credit Management, and Business development.
At least 4 years should be in a management role.
Professional Certification: Diploma in Banking – AKIB is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies

Thorough understanding of CBK regulatory framework.
Strong leadership, marketing, sales, and management skills.
