This is a support position within the DHL Supply Chain Kenya Finance department. The role focuses on providing analytical, management accounting, financial accounting, reporting, and business intelligence support to ensure smooth business operations. The specialist is responsible for maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the broader finance team in meeting its strategic and operational objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supplier Management: Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices, obtain proper approvals before booking, and facilitate timely payments to maintain smooth operations.
Billing and Invoicing: Manage timely invoicing and preparation of client packs, invoices, credit notes, and supporting documentation.
Revenue Reconciliation: Reconcile and verify revenue against customer billing and resolve any payment issues.
Contract Activities: Handle daily processing and checking of contract transactional activities to ensure all contract costs are accurately recorded.
Budgeting: Monitor budgets and investigate any variances.
Financial Reporting: Oversee management accounting, financial accounting, and analysis; prepare weekly and monthly activity reports.
Account Reconciliation: Update and reconcile dedicated balance sheet accounts.
Audit Support: Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including internal and external audits.
Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement projects, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
Inventory Control: Attend monthly stock counts to ensure signed-off sheets are received and filed by Finance.
Tactical Support: Provide support to the Site Manager, Commercial Controller, and Finance Director East Africa.
Debt Management: Manage debt collections and provide progress updates to the Business Unit head.
Operational Issuance: Timely issuance of Site Purchase Orders as per actual spend and agreed contract rates.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
Professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) are an added advantage.
Proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles.
Experience in Transport and Warehouse Operations is an added advantage.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
