Job Description
The Banking Systems Administrator at National Bank of Kenya is responsible for the overall operations and maintenance of the bank's core systems. The role involves managing day-to-day operational, processing, and administrative tasks, as well as providing technical expertise for project analysis and design to meet business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive support for the Core Banking System (CBS) and other banking applications through monitoring and capacity management.
Maintain high uptime for the Core Banking System and related platforms.
Handle system parameterization and the configuration of new banking products.
Develop Systems Requirements Specification (SRS) documents and user process manuals.
Participate in integration projects and system interfacing between banking applications.
Serve as a technical focal point for solution requests between business teams and vendors.
Support project management and implementation for customer-facing technical solutions.
Coordinate the lifecycle (analysis, testing, implementation) of software changes and upgrades.
Align technology requirements with business objectives to deliver high-quality solutions.
Conduct impact reviews of system changes and enhancements across bank platforms.
Ensure full compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
ITIL Foundation certification is mandatory.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the IT field within the banking sector.
At least two (2) years of specific experience in a banking operations-related environment.
Proficiency in T24 and OPICS functionalities.
Strong knowledge of data analytics and report writing.
Technical expertise in SQL, Oracle, Linux, and IBM tools.
Familiarity with ITIL Governance Standards, network systems, and server management.
Experience in Business Continuity planning and IT Security appliances.
Understanding of banking laws and regulations.
