The University of Embu is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic for the position of Associate Professor of French. This senior-level academic role is intended for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional performance in teaching, research, and university service. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership within the department, contribute to curriculum development, and mentor both students and junior faculty members.
Responsibilities and Duties
Delivering high-quality lectures and instruction in French language and literature at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Conducting advanced research and maintaining a consistent record of publication in refereed scholarly journals.
Supervising postgraduate research projects, including Masters and PhD theses, to successful completion.
Actively seeking and securing research grants to support academic investigations.
Contributing to the development and review of academic programs.
Participating in and leading university committees and administrative activities.
Engaging in scholarly activities such as conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Evidence of continued research.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must possess a PhD in French or a related specialization.
Have at least eight (8) years of university teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Senior Lecturer.
Have at least 48 publication points, 32 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
Have successfully supervised to completion at least five (5) Masters and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
Show evidence of successfully securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
Show evidence of active participation/leadership in university activities.
