The University of Embu is seeking a highly qualified academic professional to join its faculty as an Associate Professor of Cyber Security. This senior academic role is intended for individuals with extensive experience in university-level teaching, a strong research portfolio, and a proven track record of academic leadership and student supervision.
Role Purpose
The Associate Professor will be responsible for delivering high-quality education in the field of Cyber Security, conducting cutting-edge research, and mentoring both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the academic excellence and research profile of the University.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Cyber Security and related ICT fields.
Supervise Masters and PhD students through to the completion of their research projects.
Conduct independent and collaborative research, maintaining a strong publication record in refereed scholarly journals.
Actively seek and secure external research grants to support academic activities.
Participate in university leadership and administrative activities, contributing to the growth and development of the department.
Represent the university at learned conferences, seminars, and workshops through presentations and active participation.
Maintain continuous research and stay updated with emerging trends in cyber security and information technology.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Must hold a PhD in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of university teaching experience.
Academic Rank: At least three (3) years of experience as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
Research & Publications: Must have at least 48 publication points, with at least 32 points from articles in refereed scholarly scholarly journals since appointment as a Senior Lecturer.
Supervision: Successfully supervised at least five (5) Masters students and one (1) PhD student to completion since becoming a Senior Lecturer.
Grants: Evidence of securing at least two (2) research grants in the same period.
Professional Contributions: Active involvement in learned conferences and leadership in university activities.
