The University of Embu (UoEm) was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi in June 2011. It is the successor to the former Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College, which had a long history of agricultural training and research since 1947. The University continues this legacy by offering high-quality management, technical courses, and research services.

Role Overview

The University is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Associate Professor in Computer Science. This is a senior academic role requiring extensive experience in university teaching, a strong research portfolio, and evidence of academic leadership. The successful candidate will contribute to the university's academic mission through teaching, student supervision, and securing research funding.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

• Academic Background: Must possess a PhD or Fellowship in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Teaching Experience: At least eight (8) years of university teaching experience, with a minimum of three (3) years as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
• Research and Publication:
  • Have at least 48 publication points.
  • At least 32 of these points must be from articles in refereed scholarly journals published since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
• Student Supervision: Evidence of successfully supervising to completion at least five (5) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
• Research Grants: Show evidence of successfully securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
• Professional Contribution: Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars, or workshops.
• Leadership: Show evidence of active participation or leadership in university activities.
• Ongoing Research: Show evidence of continued research activity.

The application package, including both hard and soft copies, should reach the undersigned no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, 8th May, 2026.
