The University of Embu is seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor in Civil Engineering to contribute to its academic excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision within the engineering department. This role involves maintaining a rigorous research agenda, securing external funding, and providing leadership within the university community.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality lectures and instruction to university students in the field of Civil Engineering.
Conduct ongoing research and publish findings in reputable, refereed scholarly journals.
Provide academic mentorship and supervision to Masters and PhD students through to their completion.
Actively seek and secure research grants to support academic projects and departmental growth.
Represent the university at learned conferences, seminars, and workshops through active contribution and attendance.
Engage in university administrative activities and take on leadership roles as required.
Contribute to the development of the Civil Engineering curriculum and pedagogical strategies.
Requirements
Must have at least eight (8) years of university teaching experience, with at least three (3) of these years served as a full-time Senior Lecturer.
Possession of a PhD in Civil Engineering or a related fellowship.
A minimum of 48 publication points, including at least 32 points from articles in refereed scholarly journals published since the appointment as a Senior Lecturer.
Evidence of successful supervision to completion for at least five (5) Masters students and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Senior Lecturer.
Proven track record of securing at least two (2) research grants since appointment as Senior Lecturer.
Demonstrated participation and leadership in university-wide activities.
Evidence of continuous research activity and contribution to academic conferences.
