Associate Director, Housing Disaster Resilience and Recovery

Responsibilities

• Project & Technical Support (35%): Work collaboratively with Area and National Offices on prioritized projects. Provide surge capacity for programmatic and technical support during project inception, onboarding of technical staff, and implementation of complex new projects. Support the creation and distribution of situation reports.
• HDRR Strengthening (30%): Lead initiatives to strengthen overall HDRR capacity. Support Area Offices in conducting capacity assessments and training for National Offices to inform the allocation and follow-up of disaster readiness grants.
• Field Operations & Deployment (15%): Travel to diverse settings to support partner teams with disaster resilience and recovery programming. In the event of an emergency, deploy to provide surge capacity in potentially hazardous environments.
• Knowledge Management & Research (10%): Summarize and disseminate research to support advocacy and knowledge exchange. Coordinate with the Communications team and the Learning and Research community of practice. Manage HDRR content within the International Knowledge Center (IKC) and maintain relevant databases.
• Evaluation & Project Management (10%): Oversee After Action Review (AAR) processes, evaluations, and documentation. Manage additional related projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in disaster response or risk reduction, including significant field experience.
• Training: Formal training or equivalent experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and emergency response management.
