This is an entry and training grade into the Quantity Surveying cadre within the Nakuru County Government. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a senior officer to provide technical support in the financial management of construction projects. The role involves estimating costs, preparing documentation for tenders, and monitoring project budgets on-site to ensure value for money and adherence to financial specifications.
Responsibilities and Duties
Cost Estimation: Preparation of comprehensive cost estimates for building and infrastructure projects.
Documentation: Drafting Bills of Quantities (BQ) and other relevant tender documents.
Site Management: Conducting monthly valuations on-site to verify progress and process payments.
Measurement: Performing site re-measurements to ensure accuracy in quantity reporting.
Variation Control: Preparation of variation orders when project scopes or costs change.
Requirements for Appointment
A Bachelor's degree in Building Economics, Quantity Surveying, or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution.
Registration as a graduate member of either the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) or the Institute of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK).
