Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering & Digital Electronics

Role Overview

The Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering & Digital Electronics will report to the Dean of the School of Science and Technology (SST). The successful candidate is expected to play a vital role in the academic community through teaching, conducting rigorous research, and engaging in university and community service. This position involves working with both undergraduate and graduate students to foster an environment of academic excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction: Teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the specific areas of specialization including Electrical Engineering and Digital Electronics.
• Student Mentorship: Support and mentor students in their academic and career endeavors, providing guidance on professional development.
• Curriculum Development: Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that academic programs remain up-to-date, competitive, and marketable.
• Assessment: Participate in program assessment and reviews to maintain high educational standards.
• Research Supervision: Supervise students’ research projects, theses, and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Scholarly Research: Engage in active research within your area of expertise and contribute to the university's academic output.
• Service: Participate in service activities benefiting the University, the engineering profession, and the wider community.
• Miscellaneous: Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the school leadership.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
• At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
• A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow.
• Be registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
