United States International University - Africa is an independent, not-for-profit institution serving 6512 students representing 69 nationalities. The successful candidate for the Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics role will report to the Dean of the School of Science and Technology (SST) and will be expected to teach, conduct research, and engage in service performance.
Key Responsibilities
Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in Applied Mathematics.
Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure programs are up-to-date and marketable.
Participate in program assessment and reviews.
Supervise students’ research (projects/theses/dissertations) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
Engage in service to the University, the profession, and to the community.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Applied Mathematics or a relevant area from an accredited University.
At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Be registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
