An officer at this level may be deployed at the Directorate of Supply Chain Management Services or in a department. The Assistant Director of Supply Chain Management is responsible for managing administrative operations, policy formulation, planning, organizing, and controlling Supply Chain Management units within the Department. The role involves the interpretation and implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005 and other relevant statutes, policies, rules, and regulations that affect supply chain management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Managing activities in Supply Chain Management Units.
Formulating Supply Chain Management policies.
Planning, organizing, administering, and controlling Supply Chain Management units in the Department.
Interpretation and implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005 and other relevant statutes, policies, rules, and regulations.
Requirements for Appointment
Served in the grade of Principal Supply Chain Management Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Bachelor's Degree in Procurement and Supplies Management from a recognized institution.
Diploma in Supplies Management or its approved equivalent from a recognized Institution is an added advantage.
Master's Degree in any of the following: Procurement and Supply Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Administration, Commerce, or any other relevant field from a recognized Institution is an added advantage.
Registered with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
