This role is for an Assistant Director of Fleet Management within the County Government of Kitui, offered on Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and management oversight of the county's entire fleet of motor vehicles and plant, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and adherence to county procedures.
Salary Scale: Ksh. 90,200 x 3,220 – 93,420 x 4,520 – 97,940 x 4,920 – 102,860 x 5,070 – 107,930 x 5,300 – 113,230 x 5,560 – 118,790 x 5,840 – 124,630 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies, policies, and programmes for effectively and efficiently managing county fleet.
- Provide guidance for the proper use and safe operations of motor vehicles and plant.
- Establish and maintain fleet management records for utilization of all motor vehicles and plant; prepare annual fleet operating budget, strategic and operational plans.
- Designate and review vehicle and plant assignments in consultation with relevant departmental accounting officers.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of work tickets.
- Ensure overall cleanliness of vehicles and plant.
- Establish and implement maintenance schedules for vehicles and plant.
- Ensure that all vehicles and plant are insured.
- Initiate and implement fleet administration operating standards.
- Initiating and directing fleet risk management training on safety and accident prevention programmes for drivers and plant operators.
- Effective and efficient management of drivers and plant operators and ensuring that fleet and logistic procedures are implemented and adhered to.
Requirements for Appointment
Candidates must satisfy the following criteria:
- Be a Citizen of Kenya.
- Have a Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Economics, Public Administration, Business Management, Finance, Statistics, Entrepreneurship, Engineering or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
- Have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than five (5) years in a related area within the Public Service, two (2) of which should be at supervisory or managerial level.
- Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
