Assistant Director, Compliance

Role Overview

The Assistant Director, Compliance is a senior leadership position at the Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB) responsible for overseeing the adherence to engineering technology standards and regulatory requirements across Kenya. The role involves developing compliance frameworks, managing site inspections for various engineering works, and leading investigations into professional misconduct. The objective is to ensure that all engineering technology services, construction, and manufacturing processes meet the legal and professional benchmarks established by the Board.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Policy Development: Develop and implement guidelines, procedures, and manuals for compliance and engineering technology inspections.
• Inspection Coordination: Oversee the inspection of construction sites, installations, renovations, and manufacturing works to ensure professional standards are maintained.
• Disciplinary Oversight: Support and make recommendations for suspension or disciplinary action against engineering services or projects that fail to meet required standards.
• Investigations: Lead and coordinate investigations into complaints, allegations of non-compliance, and breaches of the professional code of conduct.
• Inquiries: Conduct formal inquiries into reports of professional misconduct and investigate contraventions of the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
• Regulatory Liaison: Partner with government departments and relevant agencies to enforce adherence to the KETRB Act.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience: At least twelve (12) years of cumulative service, with a minimum of three (3) years in the grade of Principal Engineering Technologist or a comparable senior position in the Public Service.
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Building, Civil, Electrical/Electronics, Education Technology, Agricultural, or equivalent).
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Certifications: Registered as a Professional Engineering Technologist with the KETRB and possession of a valid annual practicing license.
• Training: Completion of a leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Regulatory Compliance: Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya regarding integrity and leadership.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
• Additional Assets: Proven experience in compliance and inspection is considered an added advantage.
