Job Description
The Assistant Commission Secretary - Quality Assurance Standardization, Recognition and Equation of Qualifications (SREQ) is a senior role within the Commission for University Education (CUE) responsible for ensuring academic standards and the integrity of qualifications within Kenya's university sector. The role involves managing the processes of recognizing and equating foreign and private university qualifications, as well as the regulation and auditing of student recruitment agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Disseminate information regarding the recognition and equation of degrees, diplomas, and certificates awarded by foreign and private universities.
Implement official guidelines for the Recognition and Equation of qualifications conferred or accredited by Local and Foreign Universities and Institutions.
Evaluate licensing applications from student recruitment agencies operating within Kenya.
Design technical instruments and frameworks for the licensing of student recruitment agencies.
Provide advisory services on the licensing of recruitment agencies and the activities of foreign educational institutions in Kenya.
Coordinate the collection and management of data concerning qualifications and student recruitment agencies.
Conduct regular quality audits on student recruitment agencies and prepare comprehensive performance reports.
Develop departmental quarterly and annual work plans.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets and procurement plans.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
At least eight (8) years of professional experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business Administration, Law, Social Sciences, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Completion of a management course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Valid membership in a relevant professional body and in good standing.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the DCI.
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Tax Compliance Certificate from KRA.
Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
