Artisan III

The role of Artisan III (REF NO. KIMC/ART/6/01/2026) at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) serves as the entry and training grade for the artisan cadre. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking essential routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the Institute's buildings and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties at this level will entail:

• Ensuring compliance with rules and regulations on works, repair, and maintenance.
• Maintaining the Institute’s buildings and structures to facilitate smooth institutional operations.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Undertaking routine inspection of equipment and facilities.
• Undertaking responses to emergencies relating to the use of tools, equipment, and facilities.
• Undertaking simple repairs and maintenance work.

Person Specification and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

1. Certificate in Government Trade Test Grade III in the relevant trade area, specifically:
   • Carpentry
   • Masonry
   • Welding
   • Painting
   • Plumbing
2. Certificate in computer application skills.

Note: KCSE qualification is also expected based on standard public sector hiring requirements for this grade.

Terms of Service

The successful candidate will be engaged on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service. The minimum basic salary for this position ranges from Kshs. 20,779/= – Kshs 28,462/= per month, exclusive of allowances.
