Role Overview
Equity Bank Kenya is seeking an Applications Support Engineer to provide both functional and technical expertise across critical banking systems. This includes payment systems (clearing, international money transfers, billers), branch operations, trade, treasury, HO operations, credit systems, and CRM systems. The role focuses on providing Level 2 support, ensuring efficient ticket resolution, and contributing to system availability, performance optimization, and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Applications Monitoring: Continuously tracking the performance and availability of core banking and payment systems.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Identifying and resolving application issues impacting business operations.
- User Support: Providing Level 2 support across business units.
- Project Support: Acting as a subject matter expert for value-added services and project implementations.
- Change Management: Coordinating application updates, patches, and releases to minimize business disruption.
- Performance Optimization: Analyzing application metrics and implementing improvements for speed and reliability.
- Security & Compliance: Ensuring all support activities meet industry security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Disaster Recovery: Participating in the development and testing of recovery plans for critical applications.
- Vendor Liaison: Collaborating with third-party providers to resolve complex issues and manage SLAs.
- System Integration: Assisting in the integration of business applications to ensure seamless data flow.
Requirements
- Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in application support within the financial services, banking, or insurance sectors.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Java, Python, SQL, Linux, Windows, and database management.
- Certifications: ITIL certification (ITSM frameworks) is an added advantage.
- Project Management: Training or certifications in PMP or Agile methodologies are beneficial.
- Security Knowledge: Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors.
