Role Overview
The County Government of Kisumu is recruiting qualified and competent individuals to fill the position of Ambulance Driver. This role is essential for providing emergency medical transport services, ensuring the safe and efficient conveyance of patients and medical staff to health facilities. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining emergency vehicles and assisting medical teams as required.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operate ambulance vehicles in response to emergency calls while maintaining high standards of safety and speed.
Ensure the ambulance is clean, sanitized, and well-maintained at all times.
Conduct regular mechanical checks (oil, water, tires, etc.) and report any faults for repair.
Assist medical personnel in the safe loading, unloading, and movement of patients.
Maintain precise vehicle logs and records of all trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
Comply with all traffic laws and safety regulations, employing defensive driving techniques.
Provide basic first aid assistance during emergency operations when necessary.
Ensure patient safety and comfort during transport.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Have a cumulative period of at least three (3) years’ relevant work experience as Driver III.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the required class(es) of vehicle(s).
Attended a First Aid Certificate Course lasting at least one (1) week at St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.
Possession of a Certificate in Suitability Test for Drivers conducted by the Ministry responsible for transport.
Possession of a Certificate in Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers conducted by the Ministry responsible for transport.
Defensive Driving certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent.
Valid recommendation report of a Refresher Course for drivers (minimum one week) taken every three years at KIHBT or another recognized institution.
A valid Clearance Certificate from the National Police Service (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
