Amentum is seeking a highly experienced Airfield Manager to oversee the daily operations and management of airfield facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all Federal, Host Nation, and British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) laws, regulations, and directives. The Airfield Manager serves as the primary authority for safe airfield operations, maintaining constant readiness and managing a multi-functional team within a complex base environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management: Oversee daily airfield operations, ensuring adherence to instructions and directives from the Department of Defense (DoD), FAA, and ICAO.
Safety & Readiness: Act as the primary point of contact for safe airfield operations; maintain 24/7 operational readiness and possess the authority to identify unsafe conditions or close the airfield if necessary.
Advisory Duties: Advise Government Air Operations Officers on operational status and provide recommendations regarding airfield opening or closing based on personnel and facility capabilities.
Compliance Enforcement: Enforce standards governed by NATOPS, UFC, ICAO, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Project Oversight: Lead and manage airfield-related construction, repairs, and security requirements, following industry best practices.
Personnel Supervision: Manage and supervise Airfield Management Division personnel and coordinate activities within a multi-function base environment.
Staffing & Training: Prepare documentation for personnel management, including statements of qualifications, and lead the training of airfield staff to ensure regulatory compliance.
Leadership: Provide experiential leadership on Navy airfield operations, managing diverse requirements for multiple runways and aircraft types.
Inspections: Conduct regular audits and reassessments to maintain the highest safety and compliance standards.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or Engineering from a recognized U.S., U.K., or equivalent accredited institution.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of overall management responsibility for an airfield, with experience equivalent to or greater than Diego Garcia airfield operations.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, and ICAO regulations.
Safety & Security: Familiarity with airfield security and safety protocols in complex environments.
Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating fluently in English.
Physical Fitness: Must be medically fit to perform all duties, including international travel.
Authorization: Ability to obtain and maintain necessary facility credentials and authorizations.
