As an Airfield Electronics Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems and equipment. You will ensure that all ATC systems are operating within baseline standards, tolerances, and government requirements. This role involves close collaboration with the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer (GEMO) to maintain the safety and efficiency of airfield operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct ground inspections to ensure all ATC systems meet baseline standards, tolerances, and government requirements.
Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of ATC systems and equipment in accordance with OPNAVINST 3721.5 and Shore ATC Systems Maintenance Policy.
Verify systems are operating efficiently and in compliance with FAA specifications and technical manuals.
Serve as a Qualified Airfield Electronics Technician designated in writing by the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer (GEMO).
Ensure ATC systems and supporting equipment are maintained, calibrated, and aligned for optimal performance.
Collaborate with the GEMO to review inspection findings and prepare systems for FAA certifications.
Conduct FAA flight checks and certifications on ATC systems equipment.
Create and maintain detailed documentation, inspection logs, and maintenance records.
Adhere to strict safety standards and operational procedures while handling sensitive ATC equipment.
Provide training and guidance for qualified personnel in the inspection and certification of systems.
Qualifications and Requirements
Documented qualifications as a Qualified Airfield Electronics Technician in accordance with OPNAVINST 3721.5.
3-5 years of direct experience in the maintenance, repair, and certification of airfield/ATC systems.
High school diploma (KCSE) or equivalent; additional technical certifications in electronics or avionics are preferred.
Minimum of two personnel qualifications to conduct FAA flight checks and certifications.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, technical manuals, schematics, and electronic testing equipment.
Strong understanding of FAA standards, OPNAVINST regulations, and ATC maintenance policies.
Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least 1 year at time of hire) and be able to travel internationally.
Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain qualifications for the duration of deployment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
