The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for supporting the financial and administrative operations of the County Government of Kakamega, specifically within the Youth Service and Women Empowerment Programme. The role involves meticulous document verification, payroll assistance, and the maintenance of essential financial records. The successful candidate will ensure that all accounting transactions are recorded accurately and that financial reports are prepared in a timely manner according to established regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Verification of vouchers and committal documents in accordance with laid down rules and regulations.
Assisting with employee salary calculations and deductions.
Data capture, maintenance of primary records such as registers, and preparation of simple management reports.
Safe custody of programme records and assets.
Writing cheques and posting payments and receipt vouchers in the cash books.
Balancing and ruling of the cash books, imprests, and advance ledgers on daily basis.
Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field; OR Passed Part II of the Certified Public Accountants Examination or its approved equivalent qualification.
Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Proven work experience for a minimum of 2 years as an accounts assistant or similar role.
Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
Additional Information
During interviews, shortlisted candidates will be required to produce their original National Identity Card and Academic Certificates.
