The Accountant II will support the Nyeri County Government by assisting in the preparation of financial statements, maintaining primary books of accounts, and performing standard bookkeeping and financial reporting procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and other books of accounts.
Performing revenue collection and revenue accounting duties.
Assisting in budgeting processes and budget monitoring activities.
Preparing and verifying payment vouchers in accordance with established rules and regulations, involving primary data entry.
Undertaking routine accounting tasks including balancing cashbooks and updating imprest ledgers.
Ensuring the safe custody of financial records and assets under their purview.
Performing monthly bank reconciliations.
Maintaining Departmental Vote books.
Recording and maintaining Receipts Ledgers within the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).
Updating retention cashbooks and performing bank reconciliations on retention accounts.
Maintaining and updating the official assets register.
Capturing asset details accurately inside IFMIS.
Executing invoicing and validation actions within the IFMIS platform.
Maintaining income and expenditure records for Donor Funded Special Purposes Accounts.
Undertaking any other duty assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan Citizen (with a valid National ID).
Must possess KCPE and KCSE Certificates.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option) from a recognized institution.
Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Part II or its recognized equivalent professional qualifications.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience.
