The Co-operative Bank of Kenya is seeking an experienced to lead the Sacco's Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance functions. The role is a key component of the corporate governance structure, involving risk assessment, internal control evaluations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies.\n\n### Roles & Responsibilities\n- Leading the Sacco’s Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance functions. Performing internal audit work as a key component of corporate governance structure.\n- Developing internal audit, risk and compliance strategies and manuals detailing the procedures and best practices.\n- Developing, implementing, and reviewing the internal audit charter.\n- Developing comprehensive audit programs and audit plans to cover all the activities and programs.\n- Test the institution’s disaster recovery and incidents management programs and advise the management on areas of improvement.\n- Conducting timely risk-based internal audits and advising the board of directors on all audit matters.\n- Assessing the reliability and integrity of financial, operating procedures and compliance with set policies.\n- Economic efficiency and effectiveness in utilization of the Sacco’s resources.\n- Providing practical solutions to improve overall efficiencies and enhance internal controls.\n- Identify, assess, and monitor financial, operational, and strategic risks.\n- Develop and maintain a risk management framework.\n- Advise management on risk mitigation strategies.\n- Monitor risk indicators and ensure timely reporting.\n- Ensure SACCO operations comply with SASRA regulations, bylaws, and other statutory requirements.\n- Conduct compliance audits and follow up on corrective actions.\n- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and advise management accordingly.\n- Train staff on compliance requirements and ethical standards.\n- Provide secretariat support to the Audit and Supervisory Committees.\n- Participate in strategic planning and policy formulation.\n- Advise management on governance and control issues.\n- Foster a culture of accountability and transparency.\n- Monitor for signs of fraud or misconduct.\n- Conduct investigations and recommend preventive measures.\n- Implement fraud awareness and detection programs.\n\n### Minimum Qualifications\n- Bachelor of Commerce Accounting or related degree with CPA (K) qualification or, CPA (K), ACCA.\n- CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CFE is an added advantage.\n- Preferably a member in good standing with ICPAK or equivalent professional body.\n- Minimum Five (5) years audit experience in a busy organization preferably in a Sacco or financial institution.\n- Strong knowledge of SASRA regulations and risk management frameworks.\n\n### Key Skills and Competencies\n- Computer proficiency in computer application, especially in accounting packages and systems.\n- Have demonstrated merit and ability in auditing.\n- Knowledge of various Sacco software systems an added advantage.\n- Knowledge of Sacco, SASRA and other stakeholders’ rules and regulations.
