The Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate cash and bank reconciliations, timely and compliant VAT reporting, proper loan accounting, and effective support for financial reporting and audits. This role ensures adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements for all entities under the company's management.
Key Responsibilities
Cash and Bank Reconciliations
Verify, analyze, and post bank charges, commissions, and related fees into the ERP on a weekly basis.
Prepare weekly and monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts.
Investigate and flag any discrepancies or unusual transactions for immediate review.
Ensure daily updates of all cashbooks across the various entities.
Prepare reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for review by management.
VAT Returns and Reconciliations
Ensure timely preparation of monthly VAT returns for all entities.
Maintain monthly and annual reconciliations of all VAT items to ledgers and supporting schedules.
Reconcile VAT withheld in the return to the ERP and ensure all adjustments are completed during filing.
Maintain organized VAT supporting documentation and assist in variance analysis and resolution.
Track, report, and escalate incidences of non-compliance or errors, following up for timely resolution.
Loan Accounting Support
Update loan schedules for bank, staff, related parties, and intercompany loans.
Validate monthly bank loan interest and repayments through accurate computations.
Ensure accurate recording of interest and principal repayments, including timely payment of withholding tax where applicable.
Maintain proper supporting documentation for every loan transaction.
Reporting & Audit Support
Prepare assigned schedules for internal and external financial reporting.
Maintain proper filing systems for financial records and audit schedules.
Participate in stock counts, fixed asset verification, and other finance-related projects as assigned.
Desired Skills & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, BCOM (Accounting or Finance option).
Full professional qualification in CPA-K or ACCA.
At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, specifically in Tax/VAT preparation and filing.
Experience in a multi-entity or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
