Job Description
Role Overview
This position involves providing technical and vocational training to students at a Youth Polytechnic. The instructor is responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical lessons in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, ensuring that trainees acquire the necessary skills for industrial application and self-employment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver theoretical and practical instruction in the area of specialization (Electrical and Electronics Engineering).
Prepare and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, and trainee records.
Develop and update teaching and learning materials to stay current with industry standards.
Carry out regular trainee assessments and evaluations to monitor progress.
Ensure proper care, maintenance, and safety of workshop tools and equipment.
Lead and participate in co-curricular activities for students.
Maintain trainees’ discipline and provide guidance and counseling services to support their development.
Job Requirements
Education: Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power Option), Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or Telecommunication Engineering.
Instructor Training: A Certificate in instructors’ course from the Kenya School of TVET (formerly KTTC).
Computer Literacy: A Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
