Reeds Africa Consult (RAC) is recruiting a Workshop Service Supervisor for one of its clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient job allocation, and delivering a high standard of customer service. The role serves as the key link between customers and the technical team, ensuring all service requests are clearly understood, executed, and communicated.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Coordination & Operations
Plan and assign daily tasks within the workshop to ensure smooth workflow and optimal productivity.
Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion of all assigned work.
Ensure all mandatory service checks are performed on each vehicle.
Customer Service & Communication
Receive and attend to customers promptly and professionally.
Capture customer concerns accurately and document them in job cards.
Provide clear explanations of service requirements, timelines, and cost estimates (labour, parts, and external services).
Communicate any changes in timelines or cost variations to customers in a timely manner.
Explain completed work, final charges, and advise on future service requirements.
Technical Coordination
Brief technicians on customer-reported issues, required repairs, expected timelines, and cost estimates.
Conduct road tests where necessary to verify that reported issues have been resolved.
Ensure replacement parts (excluding warranty items) are returned to customers appropriately.
Service Quality & Compliance
Verify parts usage and ensure proper authorization for warranty-related replacements.
Maintain high standards of workshop cleanliness and organization.
Promote and enforce adherence to health and safety standards.
Tools, Equipment & Reporting
Ensure all tools and workshop equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition.
Prepare and submit daily workshop performance reports.
Maintain accurate job records through SAP/DMS systems.
Provide regular updates on job progress, highlighting delays, risks, or resource gaps to management.
Planning & Monitoring
Track workforce utilization and report any shortages or excess capacity.
Support efficient manpower allocation to meet operational demands.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar workshop or service environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Strong understanding of motorcycle and small engine servicing (including brands such as TVS, Piaggio, and Briggs & Stratton).
Valid driving license.
