Role Overview
The Multisectoral Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Consultant provides authoritative technical guidance and operational support throughout all stages of programming. The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate the management and delivery of concrete and sustainable contributions to regional efforts that advance multisectoral MHPSS for children, adolescents, and communities within the West and Central Africa region.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Advice and Assistance: Provide high-level guidance to facilitate regional MHPSS efforts.
- Strategic Planning and Programme Management: Support the development and management of MHPSS programming stages.
- Programme Performance Oversight and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate program delivery and sustainability.
- Advocacy, Networking, and Partnership Building: Strengthen regional contributions through strategic partnerships.
- Knowledge Management and Strategic Learning: Foster knowledge sharing and learning across sectors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Advanced degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Medical Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field. Alternatively, a first University Degree combined with at least 10 years of professional experience and evidence of relevant professional training can be accepted.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience working in MHPSS Multisectoral Programmes.
- Technical Expertise: Experience with low-intensity psychological/psychosocial interventions used within UNICEF WCAR. Proven experience in EASE, EQUIP, and CFC interventions as a trainer and technical assistant.
- Contextual Knowledge: Experience working within LMIC and emergency settings supporting MHPSS across the humanitarian-development-peace triple NEXUS.
- Leadership: Previous experience leading and working within multi-sectoral and cross-sectoral MHPSS teams (Child Protection, Education, Health/Nutrition).
- Documentation: Experience in drafting and presenting investment cases for MHPSS / CAMH.
- Languages: Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
- Desirables: Combined experience of MHPSS technical assistance at country, regional, and global levels is an asset.

- Contract Duration: 11 months.
