IsraAID is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to providing life-saving disaster relief and long-term support. The WASH Officer is responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) technical activities in line with the organization's strategy, proposals, and budgets. The role involves conducting daily technical supervision of ongoing works, developing technical guidelines, and ensuring timely planning of field activities. The officer will also facilitate capacity-building sessions on sanitation and hygiene in schools and communities, while maintaining regular contact with relevant stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Implementation
Support the Programmes Manager - WASH and Project Officer-WASH in the coordination of WASH Technical activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
Assist the WASH Team in the development of technical guidelines and tools.
Conduct daily technical supervision on ongoing works.
Work closely with the WASH Team to promote timely planning and implementation of all WASH field activities as planned.
Provide full support to the WASH Team in maintaining regular contact with relevant stakeholders.
Assist in the compilation of periodic WASH Technical reports, program documents, activities, forecasts, and expenditures.
Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the WASH activities.
Facilitate capacity building sessions on sanitation and hygiene promotion in schools and at the community level.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Work with the Project Officer - MEAL to ensure appropriate, timely, and accurate data collection against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting.
Lead discussions with communities and beneficiaries on program design and project review.
Conduct periodic reviews and report to the WASH Team on any obstacles and recommend mitigation measures.
Required Experience and Technical Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant fields.
Minimum 1 year progressive experience in the WASH sector with an INGO and/or UN agency.
Previous experience in supervising construction works is an added advantage.
Skills
Good organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work in a pressured work environment with frequent critical deadlines.
Proficient in negotiation skills.
Attention to details and good numeric accuracy.
Skilled in Microsoft Suite applications and design modelling software like AutoCAD and ArchiCAD.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
