About the Role
The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking young, vibrant Kenyans for recruitment as volunteers. This nationwide exercise aims to recruit servicemen and servicewomen who are ready to undergo basic paramilitary training and contribute to the nation through voluntary service. The NYS serves as a premier agency for youth empowerment, helping individuals discover and develop their potential through discipline and technical training.
Responsibilities
Undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI), Naivasha.
Participate in national youth empowerment programs and community development projects.
Be ready to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya as assigned.
Maintain high standards of discipline and physical fitness throughout the training and service period.
Engage in various technical training programs provided during the service period.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documentation: Must produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates (with one set of photocopies) at the recruitment center.
Clearance: Must possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Be willing to undergo medical examinations during and after the recruitment exercise.
Commitment: Prepared to undergo basic paramilitary training and offer voluntary service anywhere in Kenya.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid proof such as death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with Disabilities: PWDs are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills or other talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
Prospective candidates should present themselves at the designated recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties in Taita Taveta. The recruitment exercise will be conducted from Monday, 16th March 2026, to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.

The recruitment exercise for Taita Taveta will be held at designated sub-county centers from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
