The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for male and female volunteers. This role involves undergoing comprehensive training and contributing to national empowerment through various service projects. Successful candidates will participate in a youth empowerment master plan designed to help them discover and develop their full potential while serving the nation.
Responsibilities and Duties
Undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training at specified NYS academies.
Provide voluntary service to the Nation in various parts of the Republic of Kenya as assigned.
Participate in national development projects and community service programs.
Maintain high standards of discipline and physical fitness throughout the training and service period.
Represent the National Youth Service as a dedicated serviceman or servicewoman.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documentation: Applicants must produce their original National Identity Card and academic certificates, along with one set of photocopies.
Clearance: Must possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Medical: Willingness to undergo medical examinations during and after the recruitment process.
Training: Preparation to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training is mandatory.
Availability: Ready to offer voluntary service anywhere within the Republic of Kenya.
Additional Considerations
Orphans: Special consideration will be given to orphans who meet the requirements, provided they present valid documentary proof (e.g., parents' death certificates or burial permits).
Inclusivity: Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply, provided they can withstand the physical training requirements.
Talent: Candidates with demonstrated skills in sports or other talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
The recruitment exercise will be held from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily. Applicants should present themselves at the recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties in Nandi with the required original documents and photocopies. Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) Naivasha on dates specified in their calling letters.
