The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is inviting young Kenyans to participate in a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen. This program aims to help the youth discover and develop their potential through disciplined training and service to the nation. Successful candidates will undergo basic paramilitary training and subsequently be deployed to offer voluntary service in various sectors across the Republic of Kenya.
Responsibilities and Duties
Participate in mandatory Basic Paramilitary Training at designated NYS centers.
Be prepared to serve in any part of the Republic of Kenya as required by the service.
Engage in national development projects and community service initiatives.
Maintain a high level of discipline and adhere to all paramilitary codes of conduct.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be between 18 and 24 years old.
Education: Attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documents: Must produce original National Identity Card and academic certificates (with one set of photocopies).
Clearance: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Commitment: Prepared to undergo rigorous paramilitary training and offer voluntary service.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Special consideration will be given to orphans who meet the requirements, provided they present valid documentary proof (parents' death certificates or burial permits).
Persons with Disabilities: Encouraged to participate if they can withstand the physical training.
Talents: Demonstrated skills in sports or other talents will be an added advantage.
Application Details
Recruitment will take place from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily. Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha as specified in their calling letters.
