The National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteers (male and female) across the Republic of Kenya. This role involves undergoing rigorous training and providing voluntary service to the nation in various capacities. Successful candidates will be trained at the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha.
Responsibilities and Training
Undergo Basic Paramilitary Training to develop discipline and physical endurance.
Be prepared to offer voluntary service to the nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.
Participate in national development projects as directed by the service.
Adhere to the strict code of conduct and discipline of the National Youth Service.
Requirements
Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Must produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates at the recruitment center.
Must possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Must be prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training.
Successful candidates will report to their assigned training academies on the dates specified in their calling letters.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Applicants who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid proof (e.g., parents' death certificates).
Persons with Disabilities: PWDs are encouraged to apply, provided they can withstand the physical training requirements.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills or other specific talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
Prospective candidates should present themselves at the recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties between Monday, 16th March 2026 and Saturday, 21st March 2026. The exercise starts at 8:00 a.m. daily. Applicants must bring their original National Identity Card, academic certificates, and one set of photocopies.
