The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen. This program is designed to help young Kenyans discover and develop their potential through a structured youth empowerment master plan. Successful candidates will be enrolled in the service to offer voluntary assistance to the nation across various parts of the Republic of Kenya after undergoing mandatory training. Candidates from Mombasa and surrounding areas are invited to participate at their respective sub-county recruitment centers.
Key Responsibilities
Undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training at designated NYS academies.
Provide voluntary service to the Nation in various capacities and locations across Kenya.
Participate in national development projects and youth empowerment programs.
Maintain high standards of discipline and physical readiness throughout the service period.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documentation: Must produce original National Identity Card and academic certificates (with one set of photocopies).
Security Clearance: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment process.
Readiness: Prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training and serve anywhere in Kenya.
Special Considerations
Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presenting valid proof (death certificates or burial permits).
Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate provided they can handle the physical training requirements.
Candidates with demonstrated sports skills or special talents will have an added advantage.
Reporting and Training
Successful candidates will be directed to report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha as specified in their calling letters.
How to Apply
A nationwide recruitment exercise will be conducted from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
Candidates must present themselves at their respective Sub-County recruitment centers on the scheduled dates.
Bring original National Identity Cards, academic certificates, and one set of photocopies for each.
