The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen (male and female). This recruitment drive is part of the government's comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. Candidates who are successful will be expected to undergo basic paramilitary training and be ready to provide voluntary service to the nation across the Republic of Kenya.
Responsibilities and Duties
Participate in rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training at designated NYS academies.
Be prepared to offer voluntary national service in any part of the Republic of Kenya as assigned.
Comply with the code of conduct and discipline standards of the National Youth Service.
Engage in national development projects and community service initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age must be between 18 and 24 years.
Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Must provide original National Identity Card and academic certificates (along with one set of photocopies) at the recruitment center.
Must possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment process.
Must be ready to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training.
Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) Naivasha on dates specified in their calling letters.
Special Considerations
Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presenting valid documentary proof (e.g., parents’ death certificates).
Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the physical training requirements.
Applicants with demonstrated sports skills or talents will have an added advantage.
