The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for male and female volunteers. This initiative is part of a premier agency through which the Government executes an elaborate and comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. Successful candidates will undergo basic paramilitary training and provide voluntary service to the nation in various parts of the Republic of Kenya.
Responsibilities
Participate in intensive Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy or Technical Training Institute.
Engage in national development projects and community service activities across Kenya.
Maintain high standards of discipline and patriotism while serving the nation.
Support various government initiatives as part of the youth empowerment program.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documents: Produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates (and submit one set of photocopies at the recruitment center).
Clearance: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Training: Be prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training.
Service: Be ready to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.
Additional Considerations
Orphans: Applicants who are orphans and meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid documentary proof (e.g., parents’ death certificates or burial permits).
Persons with Disabilities: PWDs are encouraged to participate at their respective sub-counties, provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
The recruitment exercise will be conducted from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
Applicants should present themselves at the designated recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties with their original National ID, academic certificates, and a set of photocopies.
Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) Naivasha, on dates and times specified in their calling letters.
