The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for NYS volunteers (male and female). NYS is a premier agency through which the Government executes an elaborate and comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. This recruitment is part of a nationwide drive to identify and develop the potential of Kenyan youth through service and training. Successful candidates will report to the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) Naivasha, on dates and times specified in their respective calling letters.
Responsibilities and Duties
Undergo intensive Basic Paramilitary Training.
Participate in national development projects and voluntary service activities across the Republic of Kenya.
Maintain high standards of discipline and physical readiness.
Engage in technical training programs as part of the youth empowerment initiative.
Be ready to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment (Laikipia).
Age: Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Identity: Produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates.
Clearance: Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Commitment: Be prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training and offer voluntary service in any part of the country.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid documentary proof, such as parents’ death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): PWDs are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
