The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for NYS volunteers (male and female). This recruitment aims to identify young Kenyans ready to discover and develop their potential through an elaborate youth empowerment program. Successful candidates will undergo Basic Paramilitary Training and will be prepared to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.

Recruitment Period: Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026
Start Time: 8:00 a.m. daily
Reporting Sites: Successful candidates will report to either the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha as specified in their calling letters.
Requirements
Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Aged between 18 and 24 years.
Minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Possession of a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Willingness to undergo medical examinations during and after the recruitment exercise.
Readiness to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training.
Preparedness to offer voluntary service anywhere within the Republic of Kenya.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Special consideration will be given to orphans who meet the requirements, provided they present valid documentary proof (e.g., parents’ death certificates or burial permits).
Persons with Disabilities: PWDs are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption
NYS does not condone corruption. Canvassing or offering monetary inducements for admission is a criminal offence resulting in automatic disqualification and potential prosecution. Report any incidents to the Commandant General via 020-2400129.
