
National Youth Service
The National Youth Service (NYS) is conducting a nationwide recruitment exercise for volunteer servicemen and servicewomen (male and female). This role is part of a premier agency through which the Kenyan Government executes a comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. The focus is to help youth discover and develop their potential through paramilitary training and voluntary service to the nation.\n\n### Responsibilities and Duties\n- Undergo intensive Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI), Naivasha.\n- Be prepared to offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya as assigned.\n- Participate in national development projects, community service, and youth empowerment programs.\n- Maintain high standards of discipline, physical fitness, and professional conduct throughout the training and service period.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- Be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.\n- Be aged between 18 and 24 years.\n- Have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).\n- Produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates, and submit one set of photocopies at the recruitment center.\n- Possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).\n- Be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.\n- Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.\n- Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid proof (parents’ death certificates or burial permits).\n- Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.\n\n### How to Apply\nThe recruitment exercise will be conducted throughout the Republic from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21th March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily. Prospective candidates must present themselves at the designated recruitment centers in their respective sub-counties according to the official schedule. The recruitment exercise will take place at designated sub-county centers from Monday, 16th March 2026, to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
