The National Youth Service (NYS) is the pride and backbone of Kenya, focused on helping youth discover and develop their potential. Following its restructuring into a premier agency, the NYS executes a comprehensive youth empowerment master plan. This recruitment exercise seeks young, dedicated Kenyans to join the service as volunteers for paramilitary and vocational training programs.
Role Overview
Successful candidates will undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training and be prepared to offer voluntary service in various parts of the Republic of Kenya. The program is designed to instill discipline, provide vocational skills, and engage youth in nation-building activities.
Responsibilities and Duties
Participate in intensive Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy in Gilgil or the NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI) in Naivasha.
Commit to offering voluntary service to the Nation in any assigned part of the Republic of Kenya.
Engage in national development projects, community service, and environmental conservation efforts.
Maintain high standards of discipline and adherence to the NYS code of conduct.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment.
Age: Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Education: Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Documents: Must produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates (with one set of photocopies) at the recruitment center.
Clearance: Must possess a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Health: Must be willing to undergo medical examinations during and after the recruitment exercise.
Physical Fitness: Must be prepared to undergo rigorous physical training.
Special Considerations
Orphans: Special consideration is given to orphans who meet requirements and provide valid proof (e.g., parents’ death certificates).
PWDs: Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate, provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
Talents: Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
How to Apply
The nationwide recruitment exercise will be conducted from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.
Steps to Apply:
Visit the recruitment center in your respective Sub-County according to the official schedule.
Carry your original National Identity Card, KCSE academic certificates, and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Bring one set of photocopies of the aforementioned documents.
Ensure you are prepared for physical and medical evaluations on-site.
