The Kenya National Youth Service (NYS) has announced a nationwide recruitment exercise for NYS volunteers (male and female) to be conducted throughout the Republic from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026. The NYS is a premier agency dedicated to helping the youth discover and develop their potential through an elaborate youth empowerment master plan. This role involves undergoing comprehensive paramilitary and vocational training to serve the nation.
Core Responsibilities
Undergo rigorous Basic Paramilitary Training at the NYS Paramilitary Academy, Gilgil, or NYS Technical Training Institute (NYSTTI), Naivasha.
Offer voluntary service to the Nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya as assigned upon completion of training.
Participate in national development projects and youth empowerment programs.
Maintain high standards of discipline, integrity, and physical fitness throughout the service period.
Comply with all NYS regulations and the code of conduct during the training and service phases.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan citizen and a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment (Kakamega for this post).
Must be aged between 18 and 24 years.
Must have attained a minimum mean grade of D (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Must produce the original National Identity Card and academic certificates at the recruitment center.
Must provide a valid police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
Must be willing to undergo a medical examination during and after the recruitment exercise.
Must be prepared to undergo Basic Paramilitary Training.
Applicants with demonstrated sports skills and talents will have an added advantage.
Orphans who meet the requirements will be given special consideration upon presentation of valid proof (parents’ death certificates or burial permits).
Persons with disabilities are encouraged to participate provided they can withstand the prescribed physical training.
How to Apply
Prospective applicants should present themselves at the recruitment centers in their respective Sub-Counties in Kakamega. The exercise will take place from Monday, 16th March 2026 to Saturday, 21st March 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m. daily.

Original National Identity Card.
Original Academic Certificates.
One set of photocopies of the ID and Academic certificates.
Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
