Role Overview
The Urban Mobility Consultant (Share the Road) will work in close consultation with the UNEP Sustainable Mobility Unit Active Mobility, Digitalisation & Integration Team Leader, and other members of the Sustainable Mobility Unit and stakeholders. This role focuses on advancing active mobility, digitalisation, and modal integration within the framework of the Global E-mobility Project.
Specific Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the following activities:
Activity 1. Develop the Terms of Reference and Workplan for a Thematic Working Group on Active Mobility, Digitalisation & Integration as part of the Global E-mobility Project.
- This activity will formalize a community of practice on the intersection of e-mobility, active mobility, digitalization, and modal integration.
- The consultant will develop the full Terms of Reference for the working group, including its objectives, governance, and expected outputs.
- This will include drafting a proposed membership list, leveraging existing contacts and platforms from the Global E-mobility project to ensure a diverse and expert cohort.
Activity 2. Develop a comprehensive 5-year calendar for the working group and related workshops/trainings.
- The calendar must ensure structured momentum, capacity development and inclusive validation for all related knowledge products which are developed under the framework of the working group over time.
- The calendar should include regular virtual working group meetings (at least two per year).
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in transport, urban development, or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working in sustainable/urban mobility, including electric mobility and active mobility, is required.
- Experience working with UN agencies is required.
- Proven working experience with national and city governments in Africa is required.
- Understanding and experience with the Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility is required.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation is required.
- Proven experience in excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
- Proven experience in research and data collection is required.
