Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified and motivated Tutorial Fellow in Supplies & Procurement to join the academic team at our Mombasa Campus. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Academic & Research Affairs, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality education, engaging in curriculum development, and participating in academic research within their area of specialization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development: Participate in the development and review of the academic curriculum.
Course Preparation: Prepare detailed course outlines to guide the effective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.
Content Creation: Develop comprehensive learning content to ensure adequate coverage of course outlines.
Teaching: Deliver lectures and instruction for Undergraduate, Diploma, and Certificate courses.
Assessment & Evaluation: Set, invigilate, and administer examinations to evaluate students' understanding of the course content, and provide progressive reports to the Department.
Student Mentorship: Supervise students’ academic projects and participate in defense meetings to support them in completing their studies successfully.
Research & Publication: Undertake research, write scholarly publications, and participate in conferences to disseminate academic findings.
Resource Mobilization: Work towards attracting research grants and funding to the University.
Practical Assessment: Facilitate field studies and assess students during attachments, trips, and internships.
University Administration: Participate in official university meetings, functions, and monitor class attendance to ensure student compliance with examination guidelines (at least four-fifths attendance).
Other Duties: Perform administrative and other duties assigned by the department heads from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
PhD Registration: Must be registered for a PhD in the area of specialization (Supplies & Procurement) from a recognized academic institution.
Master's Degree: Must hold a Master’s Degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Professional Registration: Active registration with a relevant professional body.
Teaching Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University level.
