Reporting to the Head of Department, the Tutorial Fellow in Haematology is responsible for delivering high-quality education, conducting impactful research, and overseeing clinical practices within the Nursing department. The role involves designing curricula, mentoring students, and ensuring all academic activities align with the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Teaching & Learning: Teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department. Deliver high-quality lectures and practical sessions.
Curriculum Development: Design, develop, plan, and deliver a range of study programmes, including entirely new courses at various levels. Regularly review and update course content and materials.
Clinical Supervision: Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines within hospital or clinical settings.
Research & Consultancy: Carry out research, write research grant proposals, and seek/participate in consultancies. Present research papers at national or international conferences and disseminate research outputs.
Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes, and research activities. Provide mentorship and career guidance to both students and staff.
Compliance: Ensure all academic activities align with the regulatory standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Other Duties: Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Master of Science in Nursing (Haematology) from an accredited university.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from a recognised/accredited university.
Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification and currently progressing.
At least three (3) years of post-qualification work experience.
A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Demonstrated potential for university teaching and research.
