Job Description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Parasitology. This will be the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this academic cadre within the university.
Responsibilities and Duties
Academic Instruction: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research Leadership: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
Dissemination of Knowledge: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
Student Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research activities.
Grant Writing: Write proposals for research and development funding.
Policy Contribution: Contribute significantly to the development of academic policies and coordinate research activities in specific subject areas.
Collaboration: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions locally and internationally.
Curriculum Development: Participate in the design, development, and review of academic programs and curricula.
Capacity Building: Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
Academic Administration: Manage examination preparation, administration, and departmental activities.
Community Outreach: Participate in community outreach activities and provide leadership within the department or school as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Evidence of registration for a PhD.
An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable) and in good standing.
Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
