Role Overview
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students and undertaking research that influences theory and practice in the field of Medical Physiology. This is the entry-level grade for Master’s degree holders into the academic cadre at the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning: Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Research & Publication: Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively. Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and presenting at national and international learned conferences.
- Mentorship: Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students in their research. Guide early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development.
- Strategic Development: Write proposals for research and development funding. Contribute significantly to the development of academic policies and lead/coordinate research activities in subject areas.
- Partnerships: Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
- Curriculum & Administration: Participate in curriculum development and review of academic programmes. Prepare, administer, and manage examinations.
- Management: Participate in the administration and management of departmental programmes and activities. Provide leadership in the department or school where appropriate.
- Community Outreach: Undertake community outreach activities and participate in research conferences and seminars.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Evidence of registration for a PhD.
- An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited and recognized University.
- At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
- Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
- Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
- Possession of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
